Final exit procedure in Saudi Arabia

What goes up has to come down, so goes the saying. A similar analogy applies to expatriates working in Saudi Arabia. I have been getting requests from several fellow expats to write about the final exit procedure from the kingdom.
Going out of the kingdom is not necessarily a painful decision. Some expatriates get better jobs, some go due to family reasons, and some others due to other compulsions. Whatever be the reason, it is always better to be well-informed of the procedure, to avoid last-minute heart-burns. As mentioned in one of my previous posts (click here for the same), every expatriate coming to the kingdom must realize that he or she is here not here to build a career, but to make money. Life is not perpetual and the sooner one realizes this, the smoother is the exit.
The issue of No Objection Certificate for expatriates working in Saudi Arabia has been covered earlier (see this link), so I am not going to go over it again. The following check list may be helpful.
If you have a car, you must transfer it immediately to someone else's name. Unless this is done, the exit visa will not be stamped. For those who are planning to come back to the kingdom, it would make sense to transfer the car to their friend's name and then re-transfer it to themselves upon arrival.

All your dues must be settled. This includes, electricity bills, water bills, personal loans taken from banks, telephone bills, etc. Note that everything is linked to your iqama number, so a simple run of your iqama number by the passport authorities would easily point out if you are indebted to anyone.

Your traffic fines must have been paid and you must have no outstanding dues. This is one of the most serious issues affecting expatriates. You may have paid your dues, but you must make sure that it has been entered in the system. If not, you must personally go to the Passport Office with your sponsor along with proof of payment to get your name cleared. A simple way to verify if you have any dues or not is to just visit the Ministry of Interior's website and enter your iqama number. As the Ministry prohibits giving their website link, I am not giving the same here. But a simple Google search would lead you to the same. Another way is to just sms 88993 and type your iqama number. You will immediately get a reply about the status of your fines, if any.

You must close your bank account. This should be one of the last steps you should take, because it involves your final settlement from your sponsor. Take two letters from your sponsor. The similar letters, written in Arabic, should mention that you are going on final exit and that an 'X' amount has been transferred to your account which would be withdrawn and the account closed. Present one of these letters to your bank, which would only then allow you to close your account. In case you wish to transfer your money through SpeedCash or Western Union or any other bank, you must use the second letter in that office.

If you stay in a rented house, you must disclose your intentions to your house owner. If you are going mid-way through your house contract, it is advisable to fix any other expatriate to continue with the rest of your contract period, otherwise you will end up paying for the unused portion of your contract. Word of mouth is the fastest way to do this, but posting it in your nearby supermarket is also another common method.

In the unfortunate event that you have paid all your dues, but you inturn are to receive money from certain people, you should nominate your friend to get it on your behalf. There is no guarantee, though, that you will get your money, but if going out of the kingdom is your priority, then you have no other choice but to do this.

I would advise you to send your family out of the kingdom before you actually leave. Not that it is mandatory, but this is just to avoid their being put into trouble due to last minute surprises.

The bottom line is that there should be no financial dues from your side and that your name should be clear of all fines / any record with the statutory authorities, to get your final exit. Once your iqama is submitted, and all the above conditions have been fulfilled, it is only a matter of time before your passport is stamped with an exit visa. Usually, the passport is given to you in the airport just before you leave as the sponsor's responsibility is to make sure that you really leave the kingdom, but some companies also give the same to you a couple of days earlier. Good luck for your future!

Hi Expatguru,

Your website is wonderful, i have learned a lot by reading it. This concerns a question posted sometime ago, concerning working in Saudi with a Business Visa. I have gotten a contract with a company, the contract is with benefits i.e accommodation, car, heath insurance. They told me that their allocation for work permits has finished and I should go and apply for a Business Visa, come in start working and when new allocations come out in November I will get my work permit. Is this normal ? Are all the benefits applicable to me if I am on a business visa and not work permit ? I don't want to break the law especially in Saudi where my hand can get chopped off. Please advise.
Thanks

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

Thanks for visiting my blog and for your comments. First of all, I would like to reassure you that your hands wouldn't be chopped off unless you steal someone's property and get caught!

Please note that business visa is for a specific short-term purpose only and not for working on a permanent basis. That is covered under a proper employment visa. You will not be able to bring your family nor can you drive a car yourself (remember you do not have an iqama and so cannot have a Saudi driving license). Probably your company may give you a chauffer driven car or provide some other transport. If the company provides you accommodation, good for you, but if they provide you allowance instead, you are in a soup because you cannot hire an accommodation without an iqama (residence visa).

The bottom-line is that if you are coming here to work on a long-term basis, you better come on a proper employment visa and not a business visa.

Hi,

I'm muslim student of construction engineering from EU, and I consider finding work in KSA or UAE after i graduate in few years.. so I have some questions:

Is it in first place possible to get a job with no experience, but with intermediate knowledge of arabic language? and is it possible to find and marry local woman there?

Expatguru said...

It is next to impossible for a fresh graduate to get a job in the kingdom. Remember that when you arrive here, you are an expatriate, and it hardly matters that you are a Muslim. The first preference for jobs is always for Saudis not for expatriates, so you can simply forget about employment here without prior experience. You must remember that even experienced expatriates do not have guaranteed lifetime employment here, and it hardly matters whether one is Muslim or not, whether one can speak Arabic or not. When it comes to the crunch, the bottomline is very simple here - you are hired today because Saudis need you. The moment you are not needed, you are out of the kingdom, so to put it crudely, it is "Use and Throw".

Regarding your second question, I would like to say that it is against almost impossible to marry a Saudi woman, particularly if you are not of Arabic origin. Marriage is an extremely sensitive and controlled issue here. People of one Saudi tribe simply cannot and do not marry people of other tribes, not to speak of non-Arabs.

You are still young, so concentrate on your studies, do well and aim for graduating with a high score. The rest of the things will follow automatically. Good luck!

Dear Guru,

I returned back to India on Final Exit on May 2008, now i got a new job in Saudi. I took a personal loan from a bank in Saudi during my previous employment and i was not able to close the loan amount at the time of final exit bcoz of financial problems and i did'nt informed the bank that i'm going final exit bcoz my excompany did my final exit within a day and deported me. but still i'm paying the monthly installments without any due.So, I would like to know that it would cause any problem if i enter into Kingdom on a new visa.and can i contact the bank to continue with the loan in connection with my new visa and iqama without any legal problems. please advice me

Adel,

You have been honest and been paying all the instalments to your bank. I do not foresee any problem in your re-entry, because the bank would have made a police complaint had you defaulted.

Hi Expatguru

Extermely useful information, havent come across such extensive data anywhere else on the web.

I have a few questions and would appreciate your help in this.

Do I have to attach all certificate or just the last one done or the highest qualification i.e. MBA/MS?

I know they have to be legalised but do they need to be translated as well?

I am in the UK, British Passport holder and currently in the process of applying for a work visa. So any help on this topic would be much appreciated as I am starved for information here.

Thanks

Sam,

Thanks for your comments. You will have to attest and get translated each of your graduate and post graduate certificates.

Now i have got a good oppurtunity but the problem is i have unpaid credit card loan of 8000 riyals. how shuld i go about because i want to clear it first and go in order to avoid any trouble at riyadh airport... kindly advise

Expatguru said...

Unless you clear your previous dues, for sure you will be arrested the moment you enter the kingdom. Write to the manager of the bank from where you took a loan and find out how you can repay the same. You can easily get the information such as phone number, etc., from the bank's website.

i have been working in KSA for 2 years, and recently my family has shifted after getting family visa.
Now my wife has been offerred a job where they want to provide her a seperate Visa. What are the modalities involved.I have one son aged 3 years.

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

Check whether family status is being offered in your wife's visa. If not, then do not agree for your wife to be on their visa. If yes, then your wife and kid have to go out of the kingdom after which you have to cancel their names from your iqama. They both should then come on your wife's visa.

Anonymous said...

Appreciate the help you are offering to others. May God bless you!

Actually I have completed my Chartered Accountancy and being offered a job in KSA. I have 3 questions:

1. Visa offered to me in a business visa issued by Saudi Arabia General Investment Authority and I understand that it will be converted to work visa after I start working in KSA. Is it possible that this may cause some problem?

2. As I don't have a university degree and the qualification mentioned above would probably be categorised as a Diploma (or Higher Diploma) will be i be adequate for getting the paper work sorted for the purpose of residence visa, family sponsorship etc...

3. The profession mentioned on the visa is Supervisor - is it going to stay the 'as is' while converting the visa to employment type.

Many thanks.

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

The questions raised by you are very valid points, indeed. I would strongly advise you not to fall into this trap of a 'Business Visa being converted to a work visa'. Once you are into the kingdom on a particular visa, it is purely upto the whims and fancies of the sponsor whether to convert it to a work visa or not. Worse still, if you are caught working while not an employment visa, you could be deported after serving a prison sentence.
Straightaway reject this offer unless they provide a proper work visa with a supervisory position.

Hi Boss,
My very important question is that i was working in saudi arabia (makkah) that suddenly police came and said you are working illegaly but i was not. They didnt listen me at all and gave me final exit letter (Kharoog). Well, after 2-3 days they made my emergency passport (actually a one page or letter) that has got final exit on it. I asked them to put on my passport but they didnt. Well, my friend helped me to give my actual passport. When i left Saudia Arabia then i showed them that final exit letter (or emergency passport) that was issued by saudi embassy but when i reached my own country (Pakistan) airport i asked immigration department to put exit stamp on my actual passport because my passport has got valid visa left for 1 year to another country (USA) where my daugther live. Well, the immigration ppl been kind to me and they put exit stamp on my passport and also gave me my that saudi exit paper (emergency passport that has got Final exit stamp or KHAROOG). Now, my question is that if i will travel to USA and will show my passport to immigration department in my country or USA then will there be any problem or will they ask me that why dont you have got Holiday stamp or Final exit stamp from saudi arabia? Well, according to me it should not be because as i have got exit stamp from my country but still confused? Will you help me please or if you want to ask me more detail before you answer then please post back your question i will check your post everyday. Please advise me ASAP. I will be really thankful to you.

Expatguru said...

Ladla Putar,

Your entry or exit to and from any other country does not have any connection with your visa status with Saudi Arabia. Each country has its own sovereign rules and are independent of the other, so do not worry.

Dear Expatguru,
You are doing a great job by helping people when little help is available. I have a confusion which I think you can help remove. I worked in Makkah as an Internist (medicine specialist)in a private clinic on a two year contract which I finished & returned home in Sept 08. I had to get my embassy involved to make my exit on time. The sponsor issued no NOC. In my experience certificate he mentioned that I cannot be hired again as per the ministry decision ( a number of the decision mentioned which I camnnot recall right this moment). Do you have any idea about any ministry decision regarding this? When can I go to KSA with a new job in Govt. Hospitals/military hospitals/King Fahd/Faisal hospitals if I have an offer from them?
Thank you.

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

You haven't mentioned your nationality. If you are Indian, you do not need an NOC in any case. If you are of other nationalities, since you have already left on an exit visa, you will need to wait for 1 year from the date of termination of your last contract before you can enter the kingdom. However, if you do get an offer from a big group, nothing is impossible and they would easily cancel this rule using their wasta. Everything is on a case to case basis. All this talk of Ministry's decision, that too by a private hospital, is nonsense. The bottom line is that if you are qualified and experienced and your new employer needs you, they will ensure, come what may, that you are hired. Don't worry. Good luck!

Hello Expatguru,

Thanks for the useful blog. I had referred this website before coming to KSA and I must say that I have avoided many of the pitfalls that expats may have landed into.

Now I'm going back to India on final exit, but following is the employer's comment on the visa,

"Exit visa cannot be given; we will provide you single entry visa. With this visa you can come back to KSA in near future if required. Objective is to not to loose the visa."

I plan to go to a different country, (say US/Europe). Does the above effect me?

Expatguru said...

Vivek,

This is a clever ploy by your employer to prevent you from coming back and working with a different employer. If you have no plans to return to the kingdom, then there is no need to make a fuss out of it, as it does not affect you. But if you have a better offer here, then you have a right to insist on an exit only visa and not an exit/reentry visa. By the way, sending a person on an exit visa does not mean the employer loses that visa. He just loses the employee :)

Vivek said...

Thanks Expatguru,

I need not worry now since my next assignemnt is not in Gulf.

New year Greetings to you and the fellow readers of this KSA encyclopedia!

Hello Expatguru,

thanks for that post and i have one question to ask. If someone resigned and will leave on final exit visa, then will come back to work for a new employer with new visa. does he need to change the passport, etc... and is there any other restrictions.

Thanks,

Mohammed

Expatguru said...

Mohammed,

There is no need to change the passport. The old visa would be cancelled. The only restriction is that you would need an NOC from your current employer, if you are returning immediately. In case you are an Indian national, this requirement is also not there, provided you left on exit visa. Read my other posts on NOC in this blog, including the comments, for a clear picture.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the reply, sorry for the stupid question, what is NOC and i will be coming back for a different position.

I'm from Jordan.

Mohammed

Expatguru said...

Mohammed,

NOC stands for No Objection Certificate. You need this certificate from your current employer if you want to come back and work with another employer in the kingdom. Usually, certain employers use this as a tool to prevent employees from getting a job elsewhere. Please check with the Saudi Embassy in Jordan whether this rule is applicable for Jordanians, because although there is a law made in 2006 that NOC is no longer required, it has not been implemented uniformly by the Saudi Embassies.

By the way, no question in this world is stupid. In fact, a person is stupid if he does not ask a question because he would continue to be ignorant, so feel free to ask your queries.

hello sir

Right now i have nice offer in hand as one company is ready to issue visa in my favor. Now they informed me that before leaving to India for exit they will handover recommendation letter to me which i have to show to agent in India. Now few questions arise in my mind
1.Whether that letter will be a guarantee for getting visa from that agent in india.
2.Do i have to pay any amount for that visa in India
3.And last whether NOC requirement is needed or not.
Waitng for your favorable suggestion.

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

Something seems fishy about all of this. The letter from your future employer has no meaning, that too if it is addressed to an agent. Do they have a visa or not? Make it clear to your future employer that you will not pay anything to the agent and that they have to provide you with a visa, not just a job. About NOC, please read from the archives in this blog.

Just one question, How much time is left to stay in the Kingdom, when our passport is stamped with final exit?

Note: The sponsor is a Govt organization - KACST.

Expatguru said...

Omair,

Usually it would be mentioned in the exit stamp in the passport itself. If not, the last date would be the date of expiry of your iqama.

Dear Sir,
I am working in a company from last 5 years, due to some unfavorable conditions (prof. change for family visa) I wish to go to my home Country, India.
My employer will stamp exit/ re-entry stamp on my passport (3-6 months), but I don't want to come again to continue with him. My Iqama validity is more 7 months.
My Q is, if I go with exit/re-entry stamp on my PP, after how much time I am eligible to come on fresh visa?
While joining I was clearly told that there will be no ESB (End of service Benefit) and I don't want to claim them now. Even if I claim, I don't want to stay for long period for its processing.

Expatguru said...

Micper,

It is quite sad that you have to leave in this way, because you were desparately trying for a change in your iqama profession. I would strongly advise you not to go on exit/reentry, but only on exit visa. The reason is that you can always return as soon as you get a better job with a favourable visa profession (infact even immediately). If you go on exit/reentry, you will have to wait for 1 year from the date of expiry of your iqama. Please discuss with your employer and try to get an exit visa. Since you do not want any dues (mention this to your employer), there should hopefully be no problem in getting an exit visa. Good luck, Micper.

1. Can I leave Saudi on exit-only visa before my family would exit Saudi. I was planning to leave first and then my family can leave couple of days after.

2. How would I know if there is anything that may prevent me getting the exit-only visa and leave Saudi? Is there is a way to check and get a list of the things I have to clear before leaving?

Thanks so much

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

First of all, before an exit visa is stamped on your passport, your family's visas would be cancelled and exit would be stamped on their passport also. It is impossible for them to stay for even a day after you leave. If there is something pending against your name, it would show up in the system when it goes for stamping. If you are concerned about traffic violation tickets, read my latest post on it to verify it yourself.

Paul,

If your new company is really strong and has enough influence, you should not worry. Discuss this with your new company. If you are an Indian national , you do not need an NOC anymore. If you are any other nationality, check with the Saudi embassy in your country about the NOC requirement. With good influence ('wasta'), anything is possible.

It is impossible to go out of the kingdom without the sponsor's knowledge (unless of course if you have a multiple visa). If you are planning to return, I would strongly advise you to go on exit. If you leave on exit/reentry, you can return only after one year from the date of expiry of your iqama.

Everything is linked to your iqama number. If you get some money through your end of service benefits, please pay up. There are other ways and means too. For instance, you could borrow from some friends or even sell your pc second hand to part-finance your repayment. The bottom-line is, NEVER EVER cheat - after all, the bank had faith on you and lent you the amount. Remember that if you are caught in the airport, not only would you be jailed but it would also appear permanently against your passport number as a person trying to flee without paying his dues.

If you are an Indian national and you have an exit stamped in your passport, theoretically you can return to the kingdom by the next available flight as long as there is a valid Saudi visa stamped in your passport. Don't worry, just make sure that your employer stamps 'Exit' and not 'Exit/reentry'.

My Iqma not yet transfered due to some trouble (Jawast asking more saudis to appoint)of present company. My Iqma is valued for 5 months more. Please answer the following questions,
1. If any body can help me for my sponsership change?
2. A release letter form sponser valued for how many months?
3. What is the normal procedure for sponsership change?

Thaning you for your information.

peter

Expatguru said...

Peter,

There is no such thing as a validity for the release letter. In your case, unless the sponsorship happens before the expiry of your current iqama, you may have to go on exit. Unfortunately, only good wasta can help you expedite this process. Please concentrate your efforts in finding out someone with such a wasta. Good luck.

I'am two months old to Riyadh. I heared that now the marriage certificate and degree certificate attestation in India not required for Family visa. and one can directly apply for family visa with marriage certificate and wife's passport and related documets directly to saudi visa office, is it so? Your reply to this regard is highly appreciated. thank you for your invaluable service.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no such change in the procedure.

Hi Expatguru,

I am planning to go on a final exit. How long will it take to process the final exit. I have already settled my Telephone dues & I never had any bank accounts or loans. I had a post box, but I went to surrender the same. They are telling no problem even if I dont give the keys back and refusing to take the keys back. Is there anyways I can check if there are any financial dues in my name? Thanks

Hi,

I am British citizen currently employed in Saudi Arabia with a not so favourable company. I have been here for 8 months and have another 4 months left on my contract. I have been offered a better opportunity in Kuwait and i am thinking to leave Saudi before the end of my contract. Do i have a right to get the final exit visa even if i did not complete my contract? As a muslim i would need to get back into Saudi Arabia to do the Hajj pilgrimage and i am worried that my company will not give it to me.

If i wanted to come back after a 2 year period to work for another company would i be able to do this?

Hope you can advise.

Thanks in advance.

Dear Guru,

I have been terminated from my company and I have an existing loan from the bank. My benefits will not be sufficient to pay the remaining balance and going home without a single cent will be a difficult matter. Is it possible for me to have an exit with this existing loan? I have a plans of going back to the kingdom and I want to make an agreement with the bank that I will settle this problem as soon as I come back. Is it possible?

Thank you.

Expatguru said...

EllanCyanTessie,

Normally I do not entertain free requests, but I decided to make an exception in your case due to the circumstances you mentioned. I understand your situation fully. Please meet the manager of your bank personally and explain to him. Everything depends on the manager. For your information, there is an unwritten rule that in case an employee loses his job and has no other source of income, the bank usually writes off the loan. However, everything depends on how the manager decides, so please go personally and meet him. Tell him that you do not intend to cheat him, but the situation you are currently makes you unable to repay.

Oh, by the way, things are not that bad. When one door closes, Almighty opens another door so do not get disheartened. Take it in your stride and probably this is a blessing in disguise. All the best!

EllanCyanTessie said...

Thanks Guru! You just made my day. By the way, I am sure the Almighty will bless you with all these help you are doing.

Hi,
I am working as a faculty member at a public university and want to get a final-exit visa, go back to my country and join another university (private university). The university that I am working now will give me the final exit visa but they said that I cannot work at another university in KSA without their permission. Is that true or can I work at the private university if they send a visa for me. I have already signed a contract with them.

Final Exit in Saudi, to go directly to Dubai as Tourist.

Dear Expatguru,
I am currently working in Jubail under contract. I am planning to resign before the year ends. Once my employer will issue a final exit permit to me, I plan to go directly to Dubai as tourist. I will purchase a ticket from Dammam to Dubai instead of going back to my homeland in the Philippines. Is this allowed? Do the immigration offices of Saudi and Dubai have restrictions for this matter? Do i really need to go back to my homeland first prior to going to Dubai as tourist? Hope you can enlighten me. Thank you.

Hello ExpatGuru. I read this blogsite very informative. I have some queries with you. I have left the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia last Feb. 2011 with an exit visa. It is electronic copy exit visa. When i am at the immigration at the King Fahad International Airport, immigration officer did not return it to me although they stamp it. I have a photocopy of that document. Now, i am planning to go back to Saudi Arabia. You think it would cause a delay if i presented a photocopy of exit visa? Because i was thinking that since it is an electronic copy, it might be in their system. Will this cause me some problem? Need your advise. Thanks.

Dear Expatguru,

Please let me know the following:
1. Is the family visa system revised now? Is it that it is now an electronic system?
2. What is the validity of the yellow slip? i.e. within how many days/months do you need to apply in the Saudi Embassy/Consulate in home country?
3. After family visa stamping on passport, what is the validity for entering into the kingdom?

Your response is solicited.

hi... your blog is so useful. It helped me a lot. My questions:

I have a working permit for 2 yrs here in Saudi Arabia, but due to some personal and economic reasons, i want to leave the country... i told to my boss that i want to have a vacation but planning not to go back anymore... is this possible? will i have any charges for this? Should i pay for anything...
My boss doesn't want me to go home because im 1 of the supervisor (an asset I supposed)... He is expecting a lot from me and doesn’t want me to resign but i dont wanna work with the company anymore that’s why “vacation” is one of the reason that I thought would help. I just want to go back in my home country. i dont have any loans or credits as i am just turning 1 year here..

Dear Sirs,

I have been reading your post and it looks very interesting, would like to make query concerning a different situation.

I am a European expat, the manager of a European company and the only signatory for the company in KSA, I have now started working fr another company outisde of KSA and I did not do my exit yet as the company has not appointed anyone yet to be in charge which makes me uncorfortable and I think is time to pull the plug sot of speak.

I ws told by some processing agencies which I used in the pass that my wife and I have to go back to Saudi to do the exit procedure and that it will take about 2 days, I am not sure if I want to get my wife through that and if can cancel her Iqama myself without her being present since I am her sponsor and the only signatory of the company.

Also another thing would like to know is if the process can be done from outside of KSA by sending the Iqamas to an agency and paying them for the process and what implications that will have, I know that we have not dues nor fines not anything pending there as we cleared it caporal months ago when we left Saudi but stil have to sign cheques for the company operations there and they are paying my Gosi.

Thanks for your support.

Hi Expatguru,

First of all, thanks for providing such a useful blog. I've only come across it today and look forward to reading through the archives of info.

I have a quick question regarding myself and some fellow British workers, that I would be grateful you could answer.

We are currently working in KSA as eng. teachers and recently have a dispute with our employers regarding overtime pay and annual leave. It seems to be dragging on too long now and as a result we're looking to move on to other job offers we've received. We're hoping to negotiate with the comp. that we're ready to forsake the due payments in return for a final exit visa and NOC. However, if they refuse the NOC can we still return to work in KSA based on the final exit visa only? Would there be any benefit in changing our passports and coming out on a new one?

Many thanks once again. I look forward to your reply.

Hi Expatguru, my husband is working in the kingdom with family status. After taking care of necessary requirements I, with four of our children, followed him to the Kingdom with the intention of staying only for at least a month or two because our children has to continue with their education back in our country where they were enrolled and were just permitted by the school to be absent for a month. We came here through Dammam Airport and are staying in Jubail. We left our youngest child, only a year old then, with my parents since he won’t yet appreciate the travel. After a month, we informed his company of our intention to return to our country. Only then were we informed that we need to apply first for our individual iqama so we could apply for exit visas. After some weeks, we have been informed that there is a problem with the entry number of our third son (6 yrs old) and his Iqama could not be processed. The company’s Government Relation Officer could not tell us what the problem was. Only a couple of weeks ago that the problem was identified that the number given to our son when we entered the Kingdom was the number of an expat who exited from Jeddah. Everytime our son’s number would be entered no information about him comes out ( I’m not sure if there’s no information whatsoever at all or, only information as regards the expat who just exited pops out of the computer monitor) We have talked and sought the help of a lot of people nothing seem to happen. We are now on our sixth month here, our four children will not be admitted back to school for this school year anymore, and now I fear that we won’t be with our baby this Christmas Season. We all have our Iqama except our third son. I can’t and won’t go back home without all of my children whom I brought here with me…yet it pains me so much not being with my baby to take care of for quite a long time now. My husband has been advised to fly to Jeddah to try to fix the problem. Does he really have to go there? Is there any assurance? Can’t it be fixed here in government offices /branch nearby ? If it could be solved here, who are the proper people we can directly address our problem to?...or Can’t we just ask for exit visa without Iqama, should we decide not to apply for re-entry?

Expatguru said...

Very painful experinece indeed, but I am not surprised because it is so common in the kingdom. It is absolutely necessary for your husband to personally resolve this. Ask him to take the help of his sponsor, otherwise nothing moves. The best solution is for you to go on exit, at least for the moment. You can always come back on a fresh visa. All the best.

Dear Expat Guru,
Pls answer to me as soon as possible. I have resigned from the company actually company is not doing well they themselves are terminating so many employees but myself resigned, in my resignation I have requested for the release but now they are telling they'll give me final exit & if I don't submit my iqama within 2-3days they report it as runaway. I have transferred locally I didn't come on the company's visa and worked for nine years and now I want a release because I spent alot on my visa, for family visa etc.

Would you pls guide me to get a release from my sponsor.

thankyou
Indian Expat

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

Unfortunately, despite all that you say, it is impossible to do anything without your sponsor's consent. It appears that your sponsor is in no mood to transfer you. If you are an Indian expat, you do not need an NOC. If he is sending you on exit, you must actually think yourself to be lucky, because you can return to the kingdom immediately provided you have another job on a fresh visa. But if your sponsor stamps exit/reentry, then you are done. Since anyway your company is not doing good, better surrender the iqama and ask for exit. If one door closed, ten more will open. All the best for your future.

jag said...

One of my friend came to KSA on work visa. After his arrival 90 days completed in KSA. But still his iqama is not processed. After inquiring about the status recently we came to know that the sponsor is in prison. Now he want to exit at any cost.
Kindly give us some solution or all the possible ways for which we may be thankful. We are ready to pay for your service if it is
chargeable.

Expatguru said...

Jag,

Your friend must consider himself lucky if his iqama has not yet been made. If he really does want to leave, ask him to somehow get hold of his passport. Usually, any entry visa is valid for 90 days before which the iqama must be made. Once he gets his passport, ask him to contact his country's embassy with a request for an emergency outpass. If his embassy is in a helpful mood and if your friend is willing to bear his one way ticket home, he should be able to get out quickly. All the best.

I am still in the US and decided to go with another employer who also wants to apply for my work visa. Will there be a conflict? I want to avoid getting into the hassle of obtaining NOC.

Whatever happens is for good. Since your sponsor has declared huroob on you, go to your embassy and apply for an emergency certificate. Now an amnesty scheme is ongoing. You will get an exit visa without penalty and you can go back to your country.

Dear Expat Guru,
I am working as an Engineer at Dammam and living here with my family. My Employer terminated me without valid reason as an Immediate Termination. But now he is delaying my Final Exit visa. I informed them I am going to complaint in labor court. They told me go and complaint. I am requesting you to please advise me.

Thanks

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

This is blatantly illegal, whatever be the reasons for the same. A 30-day written notice is required by your employer as per the labor law. First try talking to your employer that you need 30 days written notice. If he does not agree, go ahead and complain to the labor office. Also, take the help of your embassy. Good luck!

Dear Sir,
Your website is really helpful.
I want to know that I worked as a lecturer in a reputed university in KSA. After 2 months annual leave due to some reasons I could not go back.
I send my resignation but was not accepted due to miscommunication. I was terminated for not joining back, with heavy penalty. I have paid the money of penalty in university account. What should be the necessary documents I ask the university for relieving me so that I might be able to apply for another job in ministry of higher education, KSA in future? What could be the consequences of this termination? After how many years can I apply for another job?

Be careful here. Nobody can help you here or even
suggest how you can get financial help. Any answer of a
loan lender to your question, you MUST ignore, because
they are SCAMS…real SCAMS…i was a victim of which i
was ripped thousands of dollars…well thank God for a
Christian sister who referred me to a loan organization
formed by Christian Women Cooperative Fast loan
Organization.(C.W.C.F.O). They made my life a valuable
one and gave it a meaning. When the sister gave me
their
contact, I contacted them. Then I requested for a loan
with
all the necessary evidence to prove that I actually need a
loan, they approved a loan of $30,000.00 USD and in 48
hours after meeting up to their necessary requirements,

Hi ExpatGuru

I have two specific questions. I already have my final exit visa which my company did electronically. I plan to fly on Tuesday or Wednesday.

1. I have a car owned by a Saudi but was paying it off (License plate is on my Iqama). I wanted to leave it with a friend until I come back for a new job but will this pose a problem at the airport when I leave?

2. I have a bank account and Debit Card here but owe no money. Do I still need to go to the bank to officially close the account?

Your urgent response will be much appreciated.

Hello, my situation is a little bit different and complicated.
I've a VISA of 180 days with permission to stay in Saudi Arabia for 30 continuative days. It will expire definitely on 27th August.
Last time i received an extension visa, that has a "FINAL EXIT" print and that will expire on 27th June (the day before starting of Ramadan).
I'm under process of IQAMA release and I'm hoping, obviously, that my Iqama will arrive before the visa expiring.
I know that during Ramadan the working things in public offices go differently.
Now the questions:
What can I do if Iqama will not arrive until 26th (thursday) June?
Can I go outside of Saudi Arabia and come back in few days, to extend of 30 days the validity of Visa? Is it possible so close to Ramadan period?
It is true that the FINAL EXIT stamp does not allow me to re-enter in Saudi Arabia without a new VISA?
The only thing that I can do is really to go back in my country and wait for a new VISA before to come back in Saudi Arabia?

hi guru good morning. i'm a filipina who works as health care provider in KSA.i have read several posts in this blog. but still im kinda worried an unsure.
i will have my end of contract by next month. i have an existing loan and credit card bill to settle. but even if i will get my last pay i cant pay all of them, worst nothing will be left on me on my way home.i consulted the manager of the bank 3 times already and informed about the situation, and told him my sincerity, he told me, if the company will give you an exit visa then, you can go. so i consulted our HR and they said its up to the bank and you. because the company has nothing to do with the loan however, they will issue an EXIT VISA since i ended the contract. so i came back to him and said, then u can go if they will give you exit visa.we actually don't need anything from you. i asked him him will i get a certain paper or certificate as clearance that might be needing in the airport in case? he said no need.i'm worried is that even if i will have exit visa upon leaving, is it possible that the immigration in airport will hold me ? will they contact my employer to detain me?or will i be in jail? or is it if i have exit visa already i am free to go? because i also follow your post to send sms to 88993, and it replied i have no traffic violation. because as of the moment i'm still searching for a new job.im a bit worried because im the provider in our family and siblings even if im single. your reply will greatly help me. its just that i'm worried so much because what if it will be my flight date then my family will wonder why i didn't arrived in airport?your reply is indeed very helpful to guide a young worried girl. because i never aim anything in my life but to help my siblings and family.by the way i will be 2 years till the end my contract.your advice is highly appreciated.
sincerely yours,
youngfamilyprovider
